Teddy Bear Story List

For those not familiar with Jane Marie’s Martha Bear® critter stories, bearlings are Martha Bear’s baby bears.  All three have white fur like their mother, but Poodle has curls, Pickles loves pickles and Art draws on walls.  Their fun food favorites can be fun for your family, too.

       Enjoy,
     Jane Marie

  • Poodle’s Bologna Salad

Bologna Salad has been called “poor bear’s ham salad," but Poodle is not a snob.  She likes bologna better than ham!

For one sandwich you'll need:

  •  Bologna (approximately 2 slices per sandwich), fat free optional
  • 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 2 slices wheat bread (low carb optional)

Stack the bologna and cut it into very small pieces, cutting across horizontally then vertically.

Place the bologna in small bowl and mix in the relish and mayo, adjusting amounts to taste.

Spread the mixture on the bread to make a sandwich.

Adults, please supervise your children's use of knives!

Slice diagonally to give your sandwich an air of dignity.

  • Art’s Hot Bologna Sandwich

Art likes bologna, too, but he prefers his lunch meat when it's warm.

For one sandwich, you'll need:

  • 2 slices no fat bologna
  • Non-stick spray
  • 2 slices wheat bread
  • Mustard

Choose a cooking method:

Frying Pan

Spray a frying pan with non-stick spray.

Turn the heat to medium and cook the bologna, turning it once or twice.  Make sure the edges are brown and crispy!

Microwave

Place the bologna on a plate.

Cover it with a paper towel.

Nuke it for 30 seconds and repeat until the process until the meat is crispy.   Be careful not to burn it.

Assemble your sandwich by slathering it in mustard.

Add tomatoes, cheese and mayonnaise if you like.

Pickles learned to love this sandwich when Barbra, Jane Marie’s daughter made one for her. Pickles also likes the sandwich because it requires sweet pickles, and that’s what Martha Bear calls this particular bearling, her "Sweet Pickle."
