Professor Vasconcellos e Sá hit me right where I, the founder of a small online business, live and work.  His contention is that one can't just fight business fires, but must always focus on two fronts: the future as well as the present.  The book is systematically laid out to present the maximum attack plan with the least amount of rhetoric.  The Neglected Firm is not for the wishful and unlikely manage by the seat of your pants and maybe someday we can retire to the Bahamas school of business.  It is intelligent management fodder - a guideline that won't be going to the back of my bookshelf.  Nancy

PS  Vasconcellos e Sá also wrote the new strategy bible for big business planning, Strategy Moves.  I was mesmerized by his scientific approach to competion.  He stated, "The rules maximize the chances of success.  And if we play by them we will deserve that success." 

Anyone who thinks beyond the outline of their business plan needs to do so logically, the Vasconcellos e Sá way.
