Baby Food - Save money by making baby food in your blender. Cooked fruits and veggies work especially well - just don't season things baby will be eating. Buttermilk substitute: Mix 1 tablespoon white vinegar to 1 cup milk. Let sit for 5 minutes. When making chocolate cake, dust your greased cake pan with a small amount of chocolate cake mix (or cocoa powder if you're making a cake from scratch) instead of white flour to prevent the cake from having white powder on it. An inexpensive pair of large scissors works well for cutting the fat and gristle from poultry and meat as well as chopping soft veggies and fruits. The hand holding the scissors will also remain clean for answering the phone, etc. Fresh eggs will sink to the bottom of a bowl of water. If an egg floats, don’t use it! Honey - If you rub your measuring spoon with vegetable oil or margarine first, the honey will slide right off and not get left on the spoon. Your measurement will be more accurate.
