There are lots of dump cakes out there.  Here are two great recipes from my friend, Emmie.  You may have most of the ingredients on hand already, so surprise your family with a just because special dessert.

Emmie's Yellow Fruit Dump Cake

You'll need:
  • One 16 ounce can pineapple - do not drain
  • 1 can cherry or apple pie filling  (light optional)
  • 1 box regular yellow or white cake mix (18.5 oz)
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts (your choice)
  • 3 ounces coconut (optional)
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • Non-stick cooking spray

 

Spray the bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Dump the ingredients into the baking pan in order, gently spreading them flat in the pan without mixing. 

Bake at 350˚F for 30 to 40 minutes until a knife inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.

 

 

Emmie's Black Forest Dump Cake

 

You'll need: 

  • 8 ounce can of pineapple,  drained (save the juice)
  • 21 ounce can cherry pie filling (light optional)
  • 18.5 oz package Devil's Food cake mix
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine (1 stick)
  • Whipped topping or whipping cream, whipped with a touch of vanilla and confectioner's sugar

 

Spray the bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Dump the ingredients in this order into the pan: pineapple, pie filling, cake mix, and pecans, spreading them flat without mixing.  

Mix the drained pineapple juice and melted margarine together and drizzle over the nuts.

Bake at 350˚F for 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. 

Allow the cake to cool.

Top with a dollop of whipped topping to serve.
