My First Cruise - from Galveston to Mexico and Belize A day at beach is always a treat, and Galveston, Texas is a popular resort destination. The beaches alternate wildly between pretty clean and very dirty (I picked up seven pieces of glass on one walk), but the sand is soft and fine. Galveston's downtown is quaint and worth a stroll - especially considering the damage caused by a hurricane in 1900 that took 6000 lives. If we'd had more time, a visit to Moody Gardens would have been in order. But when you spend $28.95 on a ticket (September 2002 price), you want to get your money's worth.
Restaurants - We only ate one meal in Galveston at the absolutely horrible Waterman - DO NOT EAT THERE. Please see the weblog of September 22, 2002, Double Waterman for details.
