BUSINESS and ACADEMIC Editing

"Good manners depended on paying moral attention to others; it required one to treat them with complete moral seriousness, to understand their feelings and their needs.  Some people, the selfish, had no inclination to do this, and it always showed.  They were impatient with those whom they thought did not count: the old, the inarticulate, the disadvantaged.  The person with good manners, however, would always listen to such people and treat them with respect."  Alexander McCall Smith,  The Sunday Philosophy Club

Victorian Florida: America's Last Frontier, by Floyd Rinhart, Marion Rinhart (contributor), has actual black and white photographs of the hotels, homes, nature and the seashore of  Florida in the late 1800s.  It takes me to those slower paced times.  Jane Marie

My husband gave this sweet-scented book of verse to me several years ago.  A true treasury of poetry, prose, and art, A Victorian Posy: Penhaligon's Scented Treasury of Verse and Prose, by Shelia Pickles, celebrates the English garden and all its charm.  Complete with a slipcase and silk ribbon marker, it's a lovely addition to my bedside table.

A Victorian Posy: Penhaligon's Scented Birthday Book, by Sheila Pickles, is my official date book.  I use it to keep track of those special days in the lives of my loved ones.  Scented by Penhaligon's Perfumery, it's a small hard-covered book.  The pages have colorful drawings featuring Victoriana with plenty of lines for personal reminders.  Jane Marie

Victorian Scrapbook by Cynthia Hart, John Grossman and Pricilla Dunhill is one of the most colorful and joyous books on Victorian goodies I've ever seen.  The photography of actual ribbons, lace, valentines, portraits, etc. in pristine condition is so clear, none of it looks to be a day over one hundred!  Jane Marie
