When first we met, it was that slightly rank, yet intriguing scent expelled by the flaxen piece of business across the dark, yeasty, steamy hall that caught my attention, tearing it away from an emerald mountain of endive doused with an unappealing sienna slime. That sudden awareness, that embodiment of perfection of feature and texture and aroma had made the human in me less human, somehow less in control and more, much more, alive if I may. Even, dare I reveal, internally savage. This blonde creature was a mere twelve-foot stretch of the legs away. It gnawed at my eyeballs. I gave it a deeper gaze. And the reason I ached for, I longed for, I craved that saffron gem was – was, I now realize, that I had forgotten my morning calcium supplement. And so without misgiving, no, nor hesitation, I rose,
