The unwary have been losing money for years in a get rich quick scheme that only benefits the criminals involved. This is the deal: You get a letter or an e-mail, usually from somewhere in Africa, or elsewhere, telling you someone with a very large estate has just died without heirs, but Nigerian banking laws require someone to inherit a ton of money. Would you be willing to be that special someone in return for a big piece of the pie? If you show any interest at all, the next communication asks for your bank information so the money can be temporarily transferred to your account while the legal formalities proceed. STOP right there. Never, ever give out personal financial information to strangers or anyone you're not sure about. Once they get their greedy paws on your account information, they will clean you out. Your money disappears, never to be seen again. The Nigerian bank scam is a simple, inexpensive con that has cost a lot of innocents a lot of money. If you are a target, send the information to the FBI or destroy it. If you bite the bait, you'll get eaten alive.
